About the Green Pioneer Badge (Pilot Scheme)

The Pilot Scheme (The Scheme) aims to cultivate a sense of responsibility towards the environment among teenagers, nurture their leadership skills and encourage them to take positive initiatives in improving the environment. The Scheme is jointly launched by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) and the Scout Association of Hong Kong under the Active Citizenship Badge Series. Through the provision of a series of diversified environmental education training activities, the scout leaders will be equipped with basic environmental knowledge to assist the scout students in obtaining the "Green Pioneer Badge".

Learning objectives of the "Green Pioneer Badge"

  1. Environmental policy initiatives of the HKSAR Government
  2. Local and global environmental issues
  3. The interrelationship between humans and the environment
  4. Approaches for citizens to protect the environment

Training Programmes of the "Green Pioneer Badge"

Scout leaders:
  • Upon completion of the online training provided by the ECC, the scout leaders will become recognised trainers of the Green Pioneer Badge
  • Deliver basic environmental knowledge to the scout students
Scout students:
  • Basic environmental knowledge will be taught by the scout leaders
  • Participate in one environmental education training activity organised by the ECC; and one environmental education training provided/recognised by the Scout Association of Hong Kong to become Student Environmental Protection Ambassadors (SEPAs)
