Waste Separation and Recycling Scheme in Schools

Waste Separation and Recycling Scheme in Schools has been organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Education Bureau and the Environmental Protection Department since 2000. It aims to enhance students' understanding of the importance of resource conservation and waste separation, and encourage the practice of separating waste paper, metals and plastics for recycling.

In May 2000, schools began to participate in collecting recyclables. Complimentary  waste separation bins for collecting recyclables were delivered to participating schools. 400 sets of recycling bins were sponsored by the Bossini International Holdings Ltd. in 2000. From 2001 to 2003, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust sponsored more than 700 sets for schools.

Contractor of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department provides free and regular recyclable collection service for schools.
