Thematic Projects at Schools

The Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) provides funding support to local non-profit making organisations every year for conducting diversified thematic educational programmes, with a view to enhancing students’ environmental awareness and knowledge as well as mobilising them to take action to improve and conserve local environment. Highlighted projects are as follows:

Biodiversity

Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Sha Tin) (Child Education Centre for Teaching and Learning) launched a two-year “Kids’ Greenway – Biodiversity” early childhood environmental education programme in 2018 to arouse kindergarteners’ interest towards nature and promote the importance of biodiversity conservation.

香港專業教育學院(沙田) 綠路同心 – 生物多樣性

Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong launched “Hong Kong Ecology Board Game Ambassador Scheme” in 2019 to enhance secondary students, tertiary students and public’s understanding on Hong Kong ecology and biodiversity, and arouse their interest and awareness on conservation through ambassador training and board games.

Clean Shorelines

WWF-Hong Kong launched “Sea Without Litter” programme in 2016, recruiting secondary school students to become citizen scientists by making DIY-GPS trackers to trace litter movement. Through the programme, students knew more about the source of marine litter in Hong Kong and suggested methods to the government for reducing local marine litter.

Food Wise Hong Kong

Greeners Action launched a two-year “Zero Food Waste in Campus” campaign in 2017, assisting primary and secondary schools to cultivate Food Wise culture and reduce lunch food waste on campus.
