Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence is one of the most credible environmental awards in Hong Kong, under which the schools sector recognises schools with excellent environmental performance.
The Schools Sector is further divided into three sub-sectors and all schools in Hong Kong can apply for the HKAEE.
[Application for 2022 HKAEE is now closed.]
Visits to past winning schools of the Hong Kong Green School Award (HKGSA) and HKAEE will be arranged for participating schools to gain valuable insights on implementing environmental management and education.
Five Winning School Visits cum Environmental Training Workshops for 2022 HKAEE were successfully held in November and December 2022. Presentation slides of the workshops and sharing schools are available for review.
Facilitators can be provided for schools that require guidance and advice.
Facilitators will volunteer to be responsible for mentoring schools by arranging visit(s) or sharing experience and/or providing suitable advice on green management via suitable channels.
Schools interested in having a facilitator should indicate their request when submitting their applications. The duration of support will be one school year.
Winners of the HKAEE will be selected from a rigorous assessment process that comprises three stages:
Stage I – Initial Assessment
Self-assessment by schools on their environmental performance
Stage II – Detailed Assessment
Field assessment at shortlisted schools by assessors
Stage III – Final Assessment
Winners will be selected by the Adjudicating Panel
In addition to the 2022 HKAEE (Schools Sector), a standalone school-based special award, Best Green Education Initiative Award, is launched to recognise schools that have developed remarkable environmental education initiatives and gather good exemplars of environmental education practices in the schools sector. All pre-schools, primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong are welcome to apply.
